New Web Resource Serves Critical Space Needs of NYC Dancers
August 1, 2003
NYC DANCE PLACES, www.nycdancespaces.org:
- enables dancers — in genres from ballet to tap, jazz to modern
— to find rehearsal and performance spaces throughout New York
City's five boroughs.
- lists hundreds of spaces as varied as the dance community in
New York City.
- is free, easy to use and saves dancers valuable time and
money.
www.nycdancespaces.org
asks users for basic criteria, such as size of dance area, audience capacity,
neighborhood and rental rate per time period, etc. Once these criteria are
entered, a list of "matches" appears. Details include dimensions
of the dancers' area, audience seating configuration, closest public transportation,
available personnel and equipment, and more specifics on rental.
NYC Dance Places provides contact information for all facilities so that
the user may arrange a site visit or check availability of a potential space;
the NYC Dance Places website does not book the spaces.
Exploring the Metropolis,
the nonprofit sponsor, is the only organization that has as its sole focus
resolving the workspace needs of performing artists. It is committed to
identifying and helping to create spaces for the performing arts through
both web and non-web services. More information about these resources is
available at www.xtmnyc.org.
The strategic partners of NYC Dance Places are Dance/NYC, Dance Theater
Workshop and The Field.
We hope you'll explore www.nycdancespaces.org
and share news of this new and important dancers' resource.
