New Do-It-Yourself Feature Enhances NYC Dance Places Website
February 17, 2005
(New York, N.Y.) — NYC Dance Places this week announced the debut of its new
Do-It-Yourself website feature. The new DIY Space Information System enables
www.nycdancespaces.org to have the most accurate, up-to-date information
on New York City dance rehearsal and performance spaces available anywhere.
Now rehearsal and performance facilities included on the NYC Dance Places website can update their own listings,
preview them and add new ones immediately by simply clicking a mouse, rather than having to download, print, fill out
and mail a form. Streamlining features, such as a duplication shortcut for multiple studios within one facility, make
adding spaces expedient and easy. The password-protected DIY Space Information System saves facilities valuable
time and money.
"We are grateful to the Mertz Gilmore Foundation for their support in developing this new capability," said
Eugenie C. Cowan, director of the program's nonprofit sponsor Exploring the Metropolis. "Vital support from
foundations like Mertz Gilmore enables us to offer valuable free services to the performing arts community."
Exploring the Metropolis identifies and helps create workspaces for the performing arts. Its other
web-based resources include www.nycmusicplaces.org
and the upcoming www.nyctheatreplaces.org. Details about the organization, its programs and
how to support them are available at www.xtmnyc.org.
